Bequest
What does it mean to donate with a bequest?
A solidary bequest will is the most concrete way to take care of the world that you will leave to posterity.
A world full of problems and contradictions that would seem to go in the opposite direction to the logic of the principles in which you have always believed: equality, solidarity, peace, human rights, respect for the most fragile.
There are associations that deal daily with making the world we live in a more human place from many points of view, but they must be supported and accompanied towards the goal. Often a lack of funds does not allow us to achieve the expected results and if in life each of us can make his contribution with personal commitment, in our absence everything stops, both the continuation of our commitment and our ideals.
But what can I leave with a solidary bequest?
Making a solidary bequest does not necessarily mean donating all your assets to an Association.
In the most common situations in which legitimate heirs exist, only a part can be devolved, such as:
- money, shares, investment securities, severance pay
- an asset like a work of art, a jewel, a piece of furniture, a car
- an apartment, a piece of land, a commercial activity
- a life insurance policy indicating the Third Sector Entity you have chosen as the beneficiary
It is therefore not necessary to leave large assets, because to support the daily work of associations involved in the social sector, even a small donation can be a great help.
But above all it means leaving a concrete sign that still tells about us when we will no longer be there and that takes nothing away from our loved ones by strengthening in them our will to believe and actively work in helping others for the creation of a more inclusive and respectful society
It is a simple and non-binding gesture, which can be rethought, modified at any time, without the legitimate rights of loved ones and family members being infringed in any way.
What is the best form of will?
There are three types of wills:
Holographic will: it is the one written in one's own hand at any time
in one's life. It must be written entirely in pen and signed.
The public will: it is made to be drawn up by a notary in the presence
of witnesses, who must be extraneous to the testamentary will.
Secret will: it is delivered in a sealed envelope to a notary.
Each type of will produces effect only at the opening of succession
and has the same value. The will can be changed, canceled, or replaced at any
time.
For the legacy to be valid, the beneficiary organization must be
clearly indicated in the will.
Legitimate succession and quota available
If the will is not valid due to formal defects or does not have the
entire estate of the deceased, concerning only certain assets, legitimate
succession is used in whole or in part, in which the "legitimate" are
the beneficiaries.
This definition includes the spouse or the civilly united person and
the children, the ascendants.
The available share is the part of the inheritance that the testator
can freely dispose of, identifying as beneficiaries subjects other than the
legitimate ones, such as Third sector organizations.
In the absence of a will, patrimony is devolved from the closest
relatives to the deceased (children and spouse or civilly united person) and
gradually up to the most distant ones up to the sixth degree of kinship. If
there are no relatives within the sixth degree, in the absence of a
testamentary provision, the inheritance is transferred to the State.
Why make a solidarity legacy to Chicco
The Il Chicco community has been operating for 40 years according to
the mission of L'Arche International:
- To make known the gifts of people with mental
disabilities, revealed through reciprocal relationships that are the source of
personal change.
- Promote communities that are inspired by the
essential values present in the founding history of L’Arche and that respond to
the changing needs of their members.
- Commit ourselves to build a more human society together within the different cultures to which we belong.
For those who know us, attend or have collaborative relationships with
our community, they know that Il Chicco is not a care facility in which the
guest is seen as a patient to be cared for. Our "ragazzi" are the
real protagonists of the Community, and they testify to it every day with their
active participation. In Il Chicco one experiences firsthand what it means to
welcome the other, without prejudice, without mental superstructures that create
impassable walls.
At Il Chicco, bridges and interconnections between different norms are
built. In other words, we try to build a model of society that is different
from the "normal" one.
All of this needs continuous and constant support to grow and always
operate at its best.
Who tells me how my money will be spent at Il Chicco?
On the website, you will find the annual reports published to
understand how economic resources are managed within the Community. You will
notice the great effort we put in limiting waste and allocating resources for
the best conduct of care and sustenance activities.
