Nature
Improve quality of life through ecotherapy
activities in our greenhouse and gardens.
Chicco's
therapeutic garden includes various sectors: a small greenhouse, a raised bed
garden, which allows for ecotherapeutic activities for people in wheelchairs or
with limited mobility, and a traditional vegetable garden.
Ecotherapy is
a therapeutic and rehabilitative process which, using contact with nature,
intends to improve autonomy, self-esteem, health, psychomotor skills, quality
of life and the psychological, social and physical well-being of the person.
The knowledge of
plants and their smells, colors, and consistencies, contributes to the
development of perception by stimulating different sensory channels, making the
therapeutic technique suitable for different degrees of intervention and
disability. These aspects, together with the perception of plant growth and
their rhythms, even stimulate the emotional sphere through sensory channels.
The ecotherapy activities
also serve to immerse oneself in the beauty of nature. The therapeutic
garden does not have active rehabilitation as its purpose; simply experiencing
the different essences, flowers, and colors is aimed at stimulating different
sectors and increasing the autonomy and self-esteem of the people who live
and work there. Aesthetic aspects play a fundamental role in this context.
Ecotherapy is in
many cases a social activity, which is conducted in small groups, generally in
the open air, with division of tasks, choice of more similar activities, and coordination
in the actions to be carried out.
The
horticultural activities also make it possible to educate people to respect
natural cycles, and about the possibility of recovering waste, water, and
plants that seem invasive to us, but have many different uses (e.g. to make
natural insecticides and therefore can be part of our so-called biological pest control)
